Cingular (AT&T) Wireless
As the second Star Wars trilogy was coming to a close with its sixth film, Cingular Wireless (now AT&T) was granted exclusive rights to all mobile content by Lucasfilm, and it was time for the season promotion. Initially the client wanted to simply blend the Star Wars properties in to the branded format of all in-store materials for kit distribution to all brand stores, as well as network affiliates. Having been a fan of the films since the first release in 1977, and understanding the scale of arguably the largest social phenomenon of the previous 30 years, we knew there was more to be leveraged here.

The answer came by combining the two brands in equal parts, framing Star Wars imagery in the AT&T branded retail formats. The result was a blend of two powerful brands generating a huge consumer response, and drawing praise from Lusasfilm’s licensing department as one of the best branding treatments they’d seen. And that’s saying a lot!
