upping the tempo of corporate video

The world of Corporate Video can be extremely boring, particularly when it comes to “how to” videos for sales forces. Talking heads over background product videos are no way to keep someone’s attention. We like a more entertaining approach to keep viewers engaged and more apt to absorb the message.

Nokia Mobile Phones

In the late 1990’s, Nokia released the highly-customizable 5100 for people in all walks of life, and would become the standard for consumers across the globe. The sales training video took a unique approach.

Answering The Call

On the heels of the wildly successful 6100 business phone, Nokia release a more consumer-friendly version in the 5100. It’s high level of customizability and dependability positioned it to be extremely popular with consumers at a time when customization was very limited. The phone was built to be fun, which meant everything involved in its release had to be fun as well, including the training video.

A boring, talking head approach was not going to fit the personality of the product, so s highly-recognizable, comedic talent was chosen to be the tongue-in-cheek “science guy” reviewer of this phone. Viewers are taken through its long list of features and functions with puns, pratfalls, and slice-of-life demonstrations, making the presentation very entertaining and memorable.

The 5100 went on to become one the biggest-selling phones in the world, making Nokia a global leader in personal communications. This video was awarded a Telly Award for its unique approach to corporate training videos.
